Introduction: Rubella is caused by rubella virus (RV), belongs to the genus Rubivirus in the family Togaviridae . The virion is enveloped by a lipid membrane and possesses a positive-sense single-stranded RNA and usually represents as a mild illness characterized by low-grade fever, a short-lived morbilliform rash, and lymphadenopathy. The infection can be transmitted to pregnant women early during pregnancy and may result in miscarriage, stillbirth, or infants born with birth defects known as congenital rubella syndrome (CRS).
