CD79A

CD79a is encoded by the mb-1 gene. The antibody recognizes an extracellular site expressed on the CD79 molecule and detects all b-cell tumors in routine biopsy material.

CD79a is a 47 kDa membrane glycoprotein that associates with CD79b to form the heterodimeric B cell receptor (BCR). The association is responsible for B cell signaling, activation and apoptosis. CD79 is expressed on B cell neoplasms and some non-B cell malignancies.
